Gassed, an oil painting by John Singer Sargent, is a part of the Imperial War Museum, London, England. The painting depicts the effects of gassing on these WWI soldiers. Blinded by bandaged covers over their eyes a line of men follows a medic, each with hands on the shoulders of the med ahead. Additional soldiers can be seen in the background and foreground. In the background, a football match goes on among the horrors of war.
The scene was painted, as witnessed by John Sargent, following a mustard gas attack on the Western Front during August of 1918.
